Back to School!
Starting back in the 1700s giving a teacher an apple (or a basket of apples) was a gesture of appreciation. Over time, bringing an apple to your teacher became a symbol of trying to gain favor! Did you ever take an apple to your teacher?

I love that apples are still a symbol of teaching! And this is such a great block!
My daughter is a middle school music educator. She hangs quilts in her room for each of the holidays. Her students love them. These block are great and would be perfect for her class room at the beginning of the school year. I hope to have one completed for by the beginning of the next school year.
A great back-to-school option! In ancient times, when I was in school, this feeling came at the first of September, because school started after Labor Day. Sometime during my teaching years, we switched to a semi-year-round school, and mid-August became common, but I still get that feeling in September. =) This would make a cute table topper or table runner for the fall, too. Thanks so much.
That would work for our local Apple Festival in the fall too.
