For me, it was an amazing journey with the thousands of quilters who participated. The world wide participation was awesome. The blocks and the quilts that have come from this sew along are remarkable. I’m so glad to have been part of it!
The best part of this journey was, learning so many new technics.
Specially, paper piecing and embroidery.
I met so many new friends from all over the world, not mention all the designers that I never knew before.
Loved your Simple Simon block too!!!
Thank you for giving us chance to win 🙂
The best part of this journey is learning all the new techniques from fantastic designers. Paper piecing and colour placement have been my favourite and what I have gotten the most out of. I know can look at fabrics in a different way and see it in many ways instead of just plain beige. Thank you so much everyone for allowing to join in on this journey
I loved the excitement and anticipation of receiving the two blocks a week! It was great to be able to see everyone’s different interpretations. I have had so much fun and learnt so much.
The best part was making new friends from all over the world.
The best part was meeting new friends at the Houston quilt show that I’ve met through the SS!
My favorite part was the inspiration from all the talented quilters! Learning new skills was also possible! I need some practice still on paper piecing!
I am about 1/2 way through the blocks. I loved learning how to paper piece!
Seeing all the creative quilters and how they did their splendid blocks was so much fun. I learned so much following this project.
i am new to the splendid blocks but plan on working on them soon. They look like so much fun.
Love the inspiration. Beautiful blocks.
what i loved best was the tutorials that helped with new techniques. I learned some new ways to applique. I learned how to English paper piece and i loved every paper pieced block.
I made 4 quilt tops with 25 blocks in each for a total of 100 blocks. I have loved every minute of this journey. My favorite memory is meeting up with designers and other quilters at a shop in Syracuse during the summer! Thanks Katie
The anticipation of each block release. And seeing all the beautiful fabric combinations!
I enjoyed the pace…and my FMQ solution for NOT doing the embroidery.
I loved having different kind of blocks . I appreciate The paper piecing
I learned a lot about color, value, intensity etc by looking at all the loverly pictures of blocks posted to the Splendid Sampler Facebook page.
The other quilters inspired me
I enjoyed being challenged to try new techniques in small doses.
I think the thing that inspired me most about the splendid sampler was that it made me get out of my comfort zone. Trying different techniques and using them together in the same quilt are things I don’t usually do. I love piecing and usually stick with that. The applique, paper piecing and embroidery really offered challenges that I don’t normally attempt.
Seeing all the beautiful blocks made by people all around the world.
The best part of this was the variety of techniques involved in making these blocks.
Being able to interact with people who feel like celebrities to me.

I learned new methods that I would have never tried on my own and gained the confidence to try them.
It was so fun to see the blocks being made in all different fabrics and all the fun tweaks people came up with as well.
My favorite part was how much I learned through trying new techniques, how much more confident I am to try something “hard” and how friendly, kind and helpful everyone in the FB page was! (Ok technically that’s 3 things) ? Splendid sampler was awesome!
I loved seeing beautiful blocks from quilters from all over the world.

The best part was seeing all the blocks in all the different fabrics.
Celine,
My favorite part of the Splendid Sampler sew along was seeing how the different quilters personalized the blocks. I am usually a follow the pattern type of girl, but I’ve been inspired by some of the different techniques. Being exposed to different quilting methods was nice too. I have learned more about techniques I’ve never tried before. Kudos to Pat & Jane for putting together a nicely rounded group of designers to share their expertise on different quilt styles!

The best part of The Splendid Sampler is the the feeling of accomplishment you get when you finish a small block with many pieces and it turns out better than you expected it to! A close second is viewing everyone’s completed blocks on the website or on the Facebook page.
I love sampler quilts, but have only pieced one, so far. It was from my first quilt class, “Let’s Start Quilting”. I love the fabric choices in your version. They are my “cup of tea”! I don’t have much time to quilt, so I’m currently focusing on Small quilts that I have a better chance of finishing. So far, I’ve completely finished one. I’d love to win your U. S. prize package, especially the Perfect Piecing Seam Guide. I’m working to improve my quilting skills.
I think it’s great that Pat got all this together…what a lot of work for all year! And i enjoyed seeing all the designers’ interpretations.
Seeing all of the different color choices and how they made each quilt look so different

Hi Celine. Thank you for your contribution to the Splendid Sampler. I have truly enjoyed it. My favorite part was being introduced to all of the designers and reading the stories about them and their blocks. So many designers and many with new-to-me techniques. I learned that the way I’ve always done it may not be the easiest or best and if something doesn’t work for me, there is probably a different way that will. It has been a fun and exciting journey.
The best part was the suspense of each new block!
The best part of this challenge was seeing everyone’s creativity. There are “sew” many talented people out there! And each person was an inspiration!

I enjoyed seeing other peoples creativity and I learned paper piecing
I believe the best thing about the splendid sampler was it moved me away from my comfort zone. I tried new techniques like English Paper Piecing and machine applique. I find now that I enjoy both techniques!! How cool is that??!!
Your giveaway is awesome and whoever wins it is surely lucky!! 🙂
Thanks for your input into the splendid sampler….I enjoyed every minute of it!! 🙂
I have had a 6 in block quilt on the back burner for several years, and this was my chance to try it. The patterns offered different methods to use (piecing, paper pieced, embroidery) that I enjoyed trying. The top is not completed, but I will continue on it. I chose similar colors to yours and was happy to see your many completed blocks.
It was so fun to get new blocks each week and the best part was sewing along with everyone online! I have 53 blocks completed.
Love, loved the journey. I am no longer intimidated by PP or Applique blocks. What a great idea to do this as a great big Quilt a long. The other quilters inspired me in so many ways. I also learned the importance of color placement. So glad I participated. I have 108 blocks now ready to put into multiple tops.
It’s been fun to see all the different designers take their own spin on each of the blocks.
At first I just loved the cute blocks and the surprise waiting every Sunday and Thursday. After I joined facebook group I loved meeting the nice and creative quilters all over the world. The Splendid Sampler was my challenge project for the last year-I challenged myself to learn to work with small pieces in the 6″ blocks and to get comfortable with them. For the most part, I have been able to fiddle my fingers around the little pieces and I have a really neat pile of blocks to show for it! (I also have a pile of fabric and patterns waiting to be done with the paper pieced blocks-guess that will be my next challenge!) I have enjoyed the process very much!
I loved having a chance to try all the different aspects of quilting and seeing how everyone made the blocks there own by adding extra touches to them.
The best part was gaining new friends in this awesome Splendid community !
